World Book Day
Today was a special day. Everyone was wearing special clothes. It is World Book Day where we celebrate the books that mean the most to us. Thank you so much to our Ohana community for preparing books and costumes and so much effort and care. We will take our time to read everyone's stories in the next few days and will give them back by Golden Week.
Everyone looked so happy to show their teachers and friends their costumes.
On the front table we had some yellow play doh. L and L smiled happily with their handmade beautiful headbands of the hungry caterpillar and a cute car. S who had a gingerbread man on his head was also very happy to help!
On the sensory table we were sorting bears into colors using our hands and pincher fingers. Y the chef, K the hungry caterpillar and T the Wild Thing were collecting lots of bears in cups with their friend E the Bear.
I the Mummy and A as Miss Rachel were stacking blocks up high at the back of the room. K the teddy bear and L the monkey were helping them and laughing at each other.
On the back table we worked on making a collage for our beautiful earths. H who was dressed as Max and R who looked wonderful as a dinosaur were sticking bits of paper on the cellophane globe.
We sat down for circle time and we were so excited for a mystery reader. Ichiris mom, Rui came in and read us a spooky story. The story was a halloween story and lots of friends in the class helped Rui to open the windows in the book and to count the different spooky creatures. We had bats, witches, pumpkins and ghosts.
A and L were such great helpers. After that we were shocked to discover that there were white ghosts, purple bats and black cats hidden in our classroom! How exciting! K found a black cat on top of the heart light. S found a white ghost in the drum box. Y found a purple bat behind the world book day banner… what great explorers we have in Buds class. We said good bye and thank you to Rui for such a lovely storytime.
Then we were so lucky to have Petals and Flowers class come to have a story together. Vieda, from Flowers class, read us a story. “Pete the Cat: I love my white shoes.” Nimo, from Petals class played the guitar and we all sang about the different colored shoes that Pete the Cat was wearing.
After lunch we worked on some of our earth day globes. K and H had so much fun sticking blue and green paper to make the globe. Then Tamara read us our class book for World Book Day, “10 Little Night Stars”.
Love, Buds
