📚 Our Programs & Curriculum

Ohana International School in Tokyo’s regular school program is for children aged 15 months to 5 1/2 years old. Flexible 2 to 5 days, full or half day programs are available. Our full day program is from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM while our half day program finishes at 12:30 PM. Before and after school care is available starting from 8:00 AM and ends at 6:00 PM.

Almost all classes are taught by our skilled teachers at Ohana International School. Karate is taught by Yuji sensei from Club 360.

What is the daily schedule like for children at Ohana International School?

Each class has its own unique schedule – similar at certain times of the day and different at others.

8:30 am – Arrival and morning jobs
Free Play and Table Activities (Art)
9:45 am – Pack Away and Clean up time
10 am – Circle Time – younger children
10:20 am – Snack time (Buds Class only)
10:40 am – Library time and small group story
10:50 am – Transition for Outdoor play
Story/Numeracy/Literacy time/Science experiments – older classes
11 am – Buds Class goes to the park
11:15/11:30 am – Petals and Flowers Class to the park
12 pm – Buds Class lunch
12:15 pm – Petals Class lunch
12:25 pm – Nap time for Buds Children
12:45 pm – Flowers Class lunch time
2 pm – end of the regular program
2:30 pm – After School Classes until 3:30 pm
4 pm to 6 pm – Extended Care with all children together in Buds Class

What types of after-school activities are available for students?

Phonics and Literacy, Phonics Adventure, Numeracy, Drama, Japanese, Buds to Bach, Music Appreciation, Karate, Let’s get Physical.

Does the school offer seasonal or holiday programs for children?

We have Winter and Summer School.

How does Ohana International School support different learning styles?

Our program is designed to support the individual development of each child. Through observation and regular team discussions with the Director, teachers work out how best to help each child, maximising their potential, addressing their weaknesses through their strengths, and ensuring each child’s success in their learning.

Can children join the after-school classes if they are not enrolled in the regular program?

Yes.
