Bottle Cap Bob

Today we saw there were lots of different colored bottle caps on the table. Some were quite big and there were lots of white ones, more than any other color. Alongside the bottle caps were pieces of colored threading wire, wiggly eyes and some markers. We weren’t too sure what we were going to make until Darren showed us his friend ‘bottle cap Bob’ who was made entirely of bottle caps. He had stripy pants and a stripy t-shirt too. DSCF7637To put the bottle caps together to make a figure we first needed to choose two shoes from all the colored bottle caps. We put one of the shoes on the string first and then started to thread the bottle caps to make the first leg. When we got to the waist we used a special bottle cap with two holes in it.DSCF7630 This piece was a bit different as we needed to thread it onto the wire and then bend it back through the second hole to make the second leg. When we got to the end we added the second shoe and tied it. Next we made the arms and shoulders and chose different colored caps for the hands. Some of us did stripy t-shirts using the white and blue bottle caps. Once the body and head was completed we added a hat, some wiggly or sticker eyes and drew on the mouth with a marker pen, They look really cute and we had lots of fun trying to make them walk like puppets on strings.DSCF7638 Yossi and Tirza decided they wanted to make bottle cap snakes and added wiggly eyes and forked tongues to them too. On the second table we were able to spend a little bit of time completing our Venetian masks by adding more sparkly shapes and some little plastic jewels.DSCF7628 On the carpet the train set was popular with many of the children and the dress up corner got a lot of attention today too .In the park we tried to play as much as possible under the shade of the tree as it was very hot. Arata pretended he was on the beach and decided to bury himself in the sand box. It was very funny watching him cover himself up and then brush himself down. When we came back from the park we all made a giant circle together and then tried to sit down by crossing our legs and then while keeping hold of our friend’s hands we all sat down at the same time.DSCF7643 We counted how many children were in the class all together and then sang along to one of this weeks songs “Johnny had 1 hammer” which they love as they can shake their hands, arms and heads as if holding hammers. For our main activity we used some special rolled up newspaper and some special connectors to make a big structure in the classroom. For this we needed to work in pairs as well as individually. DSCF7656First we pulled all of the connectors out of the holders and made an octagon. It was a little difficult at first getting the pieces to join but we soon got the hang of it and made a kind of geodesic dome to play with. All our Love, Darren, Ayaka and Sharee
