Bem- vindo a Brazil! (Welcome to Brazil!)

We are so excited to visit and learn about another country which is Brazil! “Hi everyone! How are you?” C (D’s mom) said gently and warmly to us. D was so happy to see his mom and said, “Mamãe!!!” and waved his hands. H was wondering if she is S’s mom. Then D said, “Mamãe,” and pointed to himself. C started showing us her presentation. “Bom dia!”That’s how we say “Good morning” in Portuguese.  We also saw the map of Brazil and it was much bigger than Japan! Wow, Japan can fit inside Brazil. Then we watched the beautiful video of the Amazon forest. There are lots of animals and gorgeous nature. “Look, water!” A pointed to the river. “Wooooow, look at the big water. It’s a waterfall.” H said excitedly. C asked us about the color of Amazon forest. S said that it was green. L mentioned that there are trees. After that we did a guessing game with her. She showed us the photos of a leopard, monkey, snake, lion, arara (macaw), toucan, and an elephant and we took a guess which animals we can see in the Amazon. We also enjoyed making the sounds of the animals. Then, we also saw a picture of D’s hometown which is a very nice city called Curitiba– it had buildings, roads, and something green that looked like a big park. Caroline said they also have beaches. It sounds so beautiful! She also introduced some popular Brazilian food. Barbecue, Pao de Queijo (cheese bread), brigadeiro (chocolate balls), and feijoada (Rice and beans). It looks super delicious! Another thing that is popular in  Brazil is soccer. Of course we can’t finish Brazil day without some dancing! She showed us some videos to dance and sing along to. We first danced to one of D’s favorite songs called Dona Aranha (The Spider Lady) and we heard D singing along. Next, we danced the samba and we felt like we were in a parade! It was a great time for us to learn all about Brazil. After we said goodbye and “Obrigada!” (Thank you) to her, we shared what we enjoyed and liked today.

Our teachers also enjoyed dancing, too. They were trying to dance the samba. After that we had indoor fun time until we were getting hungry (Can you guess what we played? Of course it’s one of our favorites– Here Comes the Boulder!).

Please enjoy having a look at our photos of our beautiful canvas. We are almost finished!

Thank you very much for today and see you all tomorrow.
