Taking care of our things

Taking care of our things Pt.2

The skies were very dark this morning, but the air was much warmer than it was yesterday! Thanks to it being warmer no one was shivering outside and seemed very cheery. In the morning we played together with the kitchen toys and the Zingo game. For art, we continued painting our cardboard boxes for our Magic school bus. As per usual, we packed away our toys and gathered into a circle for a little bit of singing… Or so we thought. Our teachers noticed that we didn’t pack away the Zingo game very nicely, we just dumped all the cards and boards inside and although it was inside the box, it looked like a horrible mess. Our teachers had us do it over again and we had to pack it away neatly. Nimo checked the Kitchen area and noticed it was a mess too, and then he found a broken pan. Nimo gathered all of us together and showed us the messy kitchen and the broken pan. We briefly talked about the kitchen and were reminded of what we talked about yesterday about our books. Nimo said we would talk a little more about it later and we would have our snacks. We could tell Nimo was very upset and our usual washing hands routine was very quiet.

Our snack time today was very quiet. We all knew our teachers were upset about how we treated our toys. After our snacks, we went to the Library like usual to have book time… Or so we thought, once more. We remembered that yesterday we broke a few books and Sayaka talked to us about respecting our things, and our teachers took all the books away. Now that we didn’t have any books, we had nothing to do but just sit in the library…

Nimo started by simply asking us, “Are you having fun?” We definitely were not, and so we replied, “no…” We talked yesterday about how we broke our books, and to make matters much worse, no one told our teachers it was broken. We talked about how that doesn’t show our teachers that we care nor respect our things and so they took them away. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again today… We broke our pan and no one told our teachers. Nimo told us that “Fun” Ohana can only happen if all of Petals use their listening ears and respect everyone and everything. If we don’t then Ohana can’t be fun. We had a little taste of that during our transition time today when we didn’t have our books and we just sat there. Nimo told us that because we aren’t being careful and respectful with our Kitchen toys, we can’t play with them anymore. We didn’t want that to happen and we promised our teachers that we would make sure to use our gentle hands. Our teachers told us that they are not sure if our friends will really use gentle hands and that they would need to see on Monday if everyone can use their gentle hands and care for our toys. We also going to have a few books back on our shelves so our teachers can see if we can care for our books as well. We know we can do it and when Monday comes we will show our Petals Teachers how much we care for our books and toys.

We quickly put on our jackets and smocks and headed over to the park. We went together with our Flowers friends and of course we got to play together. For most of our park time it was just Petals and Flowers so we had lots of room to run! We played tag together and stayed active in the warm winter park.

We learn important things at Ohana every day, unfortunately not all of them are fun.  Even though they may not be fun, we know our Teachers love us and care for us. Monday is going to be another beautiful and fun day! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Love,
