Marbling Fun

This morning, all of the children tried some marbling pictures at the small table. First we poured water into a very big tray. Next, we added some drops of marbling ink to the water a few drops at a time. DSCF7260We could choose three different colors. Then, using a stick we moved the ink around the tray until all the colors made a beautiful pattern on the surface of the water. DSCF7255We then placed our paper slowly and carefully onto the surface of the water in the tray. Making sure the paper was completely flat it floating on the water surface. We then gently lifted the far end of the paper and rolled the paper upwards from the surface to reveal our marbled designs . All of our work looks different and very beautiful. At the small table we made leaves for our group Ajisai picture. DSCF7254We had green and light green origami and also some green japanese washi paper. Ajisai leaves are spiky around the outside and so some of us used special zigzag scissors to make the edges of our paper spiky too.DSCF7285 On way to the park, we sang ‘konoyubi papa’ ,’tulip’,’choucho’,’haruga kita’. ‘kirakira boshi’,‘obentoubako no uta’ and ’curry rice no uta’. Actually we know many Japanese songs already and love them very much. We did’ Anatano onamae wa’ in circle time and had a look at the calendar. Today, Arata did the date, Blue did the day of the week, Yossi did the month. We all helped count in Japanese the numbers to help our friends; ichi, ni, san, shi, go, roku, shichi, hachi, kyu, jyu! DSCF7273After that, we made a special present for Father’s day with origami paper. When we chose the origami color, we said ‘aka (color name in Japanese) kudasai’. DSCF7294Many of us knew how to make sankaku( triangles) and shikaku(squares). Now our Father’s day presents are almost ready! All our Love, Ayaka, Sharee and Darren
