Tulips, Butterflies and Vowels

We set out the corkboards, hammers, nails and wooden shapes on the activity table this morning and this was a very popular activity. When we asked “What are you making a picture of”? They replied “Dinosaurs”. Several of the children even remembered the names of some of the dinosaurs and said they were making ‘stegosaurus’ or ‘brachiosaurus’. DSCF6922Next to the cork board activity we had the art clay ready for Ethan, Ryan, Noa, Jeremy and Jessica to make dinosaur fossils. DSCF6917We rolled the art clay into a sheet and using two pieces of wood we were able to make sure the clay was thick and smooth enough to make our fossils correctly. Choosing a small dinosaur model we could then push it into the art clay deep enough to leave an impression on the surface. When we pulled out the small dinosaurs they left great impressions and we put them aside to dry next week. Adrien and Tomas had a lot of fun with the overhead projector and the smaller dinosaur models. They put the models on the projector and moved them around while watching the he shadows on the wall. Ava, Allie, Clodia and Olivia were all princesses this morning having dressed up really well. DSCF6928They had crowns, hats, jewelry and big flowing dresses. They all looked so sweet together. On the second table we had a new activity that Beckett immediately noticed when he arrived, a 3 sided mirror with some plastic trees and dinosaurs in the middle. DSCF6919When he looked carefully he noticed that he could see so many of the dinosaurs in the reflections and not just the sides but the underneath too. We headed to the park with our snack and water bottles again today to try and avoid the hottest part of the day. It was great sitting in the shade on the benches having snacks and drinks with our friends. The swings were popular again today and we are big enough now to push our friends safely. We looked at a big dinosaur book titled ‘Dinosaurs, Prehistoric life as you have never seen it before’. It had some great dinosaur pictures in it and we read a section on how dinosaurs used to protect themselves by having bony plates, horns or spikes on their bodies. DSCF6935We had our very last kid-fit session today with Tony. It was great fun and we again looked at the ‘Whole body’ and played lots of games and activities with our friends. DSCF6950We tried balancing, stretching, throwing, squeezing and side stepping with our friends too. We also reviewed the 3 things we should try and do to keep our bodies healthy: eat healthy food, exercise and rest. After returning to the classroom we practiced our performance songs and dance. They all did really well and sang so beautifully together. DSCF6952We wish you all a great weekend and look forward to seeing you tonight for the parent & teacher social event. All our Love, Darren and Nanako
