BIg Walk

The big triceratops was projected on the back wall today when the children arrived and it was the first time that Vincent and Adrien had seen it. On the main table there were lots of the plastic bottles we started to tape together yesterday and Vincent wanted to help put them together. We checked the plastic bottle tail we had already made against the shadow projection and saw that it needed to be a bit thicker neat the top. Vincent then found two small plastic bottles to add to it and using some big wide tape we added them to the top end of the tail. Ava and Allie came along to help add more bottles to construct the body of the triceratops. DSCF6795We now need more big bottles as it looks like we don’t have enough and we also need to figure out how to attach the tail to the body at the right angle too. DSCF6796More on that tomorrow. On the carpet we had out a new set of blocks with holes and grooves in them for a marble to roll along or through. They are a little tricky to use at first but Tokutaro, Ethan and Ryan gave it their best try and soon had the marbles that came with the set rolling along grooves and dropping down holes. Yossi and Tirza worked on their gifts for their moms and dads on the second table and did a great job with the paint markers. Jennifer, Ava, Marc and Sophie all completed their big dinosaur pictures by adding in details such as trees, plants, grass, other dinosaurs and even volcanoes. Yossi and Tirza headed for the chess set which was set up on a small red table and Yossi tried to help Tirza along. Beckett came to help Tokutaro and Ava with their chess moves too. After packing away the toys and materials Ayaka read the book ‘Dora’s Dinosaur Adventure’ which was all about a dinosaur looking for his mother. DSCF6809It was a great book and showed some dinosaur eggs too. DSCF6802The weather looked a bit better before park time but when we got outside we realized that even though the rain had stopped the ground was still very wet. We then decided it may be best to go for a walk. It turned out to be a long adventure walk as we headed past step-park and saw all the big puddles on the ground. We then headed up the hill towards Nishi Machi school and turned right and found ourselves very close to Arisugawa park near the baseball ground. There is a small fenced park there and when we looked it seemed a little drier than step park and stopped to play for about 10 minutes. We enjoyed all the activities such as the swings, slide and large wheel and horn equipment. DSCF6820It was a long walk back to school but we made it. In circle time we only had enough time to practice 2 of our songs for the party, one in English, the other in Japanese. DSCF6825After nap time we started a new ‘Jolly Phonics’ sound for the letter ‘f’. We practiced a little bit of writing and thought of some new words such as frog, fly, four and five. All our Love, Darren, Ayaka, Sharee and Rashmi.
