Giant Triceratops

It was all dark in the back of the classroom today and many of the children were surprised to see a giant triceratops projected onto the wall. In front of the triceratops shadow were lots of plastic bottles of different sizes. Today we are going to start our giant class plastic bottle triceratops. First we needed to separate all of the bottles into two piles. DSCF6769The smaller 500ml ones and the big 2 liter ones, so that we could use the smaller ones for the tail and horns and the bigger ones for the legs and body. The children found it funny when we told them that this is probably about the size of a baby triceratops. On the main table the beading and ‘bendaroos’ (flexible waxed string) were very popular today with the children making bracelets and necklaces for their parents and making pictures of hearts and flowers with the ‘bendaroos’ on the table surface. Jennifer, Jeremy and Sophie completed their gifts for their mums and dads on the second table even though they are secret and we therefore cannot say any more. Only that they are looking spectacular and know you all will love them. DSCF6778Together we introduced the children to a new word today ‘Predator’. Beckett suggested that it meant meat eater like a ‘carnivore’ and when we showed them a special pop-up book they were surprised to see not only cheetahs but also praying-mantis, snakes, crocodiles and even spiders. On the small red table Clodia and Olivia made some wonderful felt collages with the blue and green backgrounds. DSCF6775We headed for the park early today as it was quite warm and humid. We took our water bottles along with us as well as our park hats luckily. When we returned and had cooled down a bit we set up some chairs in the classroom and asked 6 of the children to sit on them. Their friends then stood behind to make 2 rows of children. We explained that next week we are going to have our end of year party and that their mommies and daddies are coming to school for the party and want to hear some songs in English and in Japanese. DSCF6786They all did really well and sang along beautifully to two English songs and then 1 Japanese song today. In the afternoon we listened to the story of the boy cried wolf. This is the story of a boy who looked after the sheep and thought it funny to lie and say there was a wolf coming but he lied and soon the people stopped believing him. DSCF6793When the wolf did come, no one believed him and all the sheep were taken. All our Love, Darren, Nanako, and Sharee
