Jobs and tools matching

DSCF4134When we came into the classroom this morning we saw a whole range of activities on the table and the carpet to play with. On the main table there was a board game set up with some special flash cards and dice. There were enough places for between 1 and 4 of us to play together. We decided the best way to see which of us to go first was to do ‘paper, scissors, stone’ with our friends. To play the game we needed to roll the two dice and add up the numbers shown. We then moved around the board.DSCF4137 We needed to be really careful we didn’t land on a black spot as we would then need to pick a card from the pile of jobs cards and see if we could identify the job shown. If we didn’t know the name of the job we would need to move DSCF4138back to our original position. It was a fun game and we had a good time rolling the dice and adding up the numbers. On the second table we got very creative with some waxed string modelling materials. They are called ‘Bendaroos’ and we made lots of different objects including flowers and smiley faces. On the carpet area the train sets were very popular as well as a matching and memory game with Nanako. The matching memory game uses some Bob the builder cards and we had to rememberDSCF4140 where they were and match as many pairs as possible. The park was a bit warmer DSCF4141today but a little wet from the rain yesterday and so we had to try and avoid the puddles. Soccer was again popular with Tokutaro, Lucinda, Jennifer, Jessica, Marc, Jeremy and Eito all coming to play. In circle time we played a pairs game with some further jobs cards and also tools & accessories. We were each given either a job card or a tool card and had to find our friend with the corresponding cards for: Firefighter/ Ladder, Doctor/ Stethoscope, Nurse/ DSCF4144Thermometer, Builder/ Hammer, Farmer/ Shovel, Mailman/ Mail and Dentist/ DSCF4147Mirror. Once we had found the correct partner we needed to put our arms around each other to make a pair. We then showed all our friends the two cards we had in our pair and told our friends what which cards we had. We had to work quite quickly to make sure we finished before Darren finished counting down from 5. We tried this game several times and got faster and faster at it. DSCF4153 Have a great afternoon.

All our love, Darren, Ayaka and Nanako
