Last day of the term.....happy Spring break

We spent the morning playing with our friends and teachers and enjoying dressing up and pretending that we were mothers, fathers, princesses, bus drivers, fairies, sharks etc. Some of us were even having babies and made ourselves look pregnant by putting broccoli and other vegetables underneath our clothes, to make it look like we ???????????????????????????????had a big tummy. We laughed a lot this morning and it was the kind of laughter, that makes everyone feel happy. Because our teachers give us so much independence and trust us with many things, we sometimes make funny mistakes. You can see ???????????????????????????????from the photo here that Vincent wanted to dress in the astronaut suit. So he took it off the rack and put it on; but he took the hook from the rack with him. He seemed happy the whole morning while he sat with the hook and our teachers only noticed it before we packed away, so they took a photo. ???????????????????????????????In circle time, Shelley teased us and we laughed again when. She said that since we had all packed away so beautifully and helped one another, we could all get a sticker. She brought the stickers to the mat and took the pointer finger and closed her eyes and sang “Who should get a sticker, who should get a sticker, who should get a sticker, I wonder who it should be?” First she OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERApointed the sticker at herself and that was what started us laughing; then she did it again and pointed to the princess clothes in the dress up corner, and we laughed again….she did it a few times and we continued laughing all the time. Of course, in the end, we all chose a sticker from the sticker pad.

??????????????????????We played some ball games during the morning which were a whole lot of fun and required quite a bit of skill from us. We sat on the floor with our legs open and rolled the ball to one another; then we stood up and our teachers threw the ball to us and we tried to catch it. We learnt that in order to hold the ball tight, we can use our bodies and bring the ball towards our chest. This made it much easier?????????????????????? and most of the time we were successful in catching and holding the ball. We tried to hold the ball underneath our chins; first with a larger soft ball and then with a smaller hard ball. Some of us managed really well. We went from playing ball games using our hands, to ones where we used our feet. Our teachers kicked the ball to us OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAand our task was to try to stop it with our foot and then we kicked it back to them. The last task was a lot trickier. We put the ball on the floor in front of us and put one foot on the ball; then we put the other foot on it and the other and the other until we counted all the way to ten. It was a great skill to learn as it helped us learn about crossing the midline, which is the middle of your body and we had to balance our foot gently so we needed to pay attention to balancing our entire body.

We had a few table activities e. g. peg boards, pegs on cups, puzzles ???????????????????????????????and drawing. We counted our friends when we did our register for today, changed the calendar with advice from our weatherman, Vincent and then our day was over. We want to wish all of our friends and teachers a wonderful Spring Break and happy and safe travels wherever you go. We look forward to seeing you all on Monday 30th March, full of the joys of spring and ready for new beginnings. Love always Shelley, Hisami and Liezel
