Washed away stars on the shore, and plastic rail

DSCF7616Today, when we came into the class, we saw our moons that we had made yesterday on the table, along with glitter and gold stars. We were all happy and couldn’t wait for our turn to put shiny glitter and stars next to our moon. We tried to squeeze the glitter glue out of the bottle, but the bottle was very hard, and we had to ask for some help. But when Jessica asked for help, Tokutaro DSCF7638was gentleman enough to volunteer to help the damsel in distress. Some of our stars look like the DSCF7623Milky Way or shooting stars too. You should see all our beautiful stars and moon in our circle sky! On the carpet, there was our favorite toy, the plastic rails! Kai and Wesley started to use them and soon all our friends joined in and made a big long rail across the room. It was such a DSCF7625beautiful project and great to work on; as one whole group, we were able to convince our teachers to push our circle time for later, so that we could continue with our rails.DSCF7627

During our story time, our teacher read us a book called “Star Sands in the South Sea”. It was a book about a small island and stars, falling in to the ocean when a storm arrived, and the sky went very dark without any stars. When the morning came, the fallen stars had been washed up on the shore of a small island, and DSCF7631went floating back to the sky before the night came again. One of the pages was filled with stars, and when we looked up close, there were bicycle-shaped stars and elephant-shaped stars hiding. It was fun to look for stars in different shapes.DSCF7636

After the story time, we played with the colored balls and tunnels again just for a while, and we also did a little bit of bowling. When we started to play with the colored balls, Jeremy darted to his teacher’s desk to grab an empty trash bin to DSCF7640put all the balls inside again. Jeremy and Wesley sang the song Tokutaro had made up yesterday going “We need green, green, green, green balls” to the tune of “Apples and Bananas” song.

After getting all excited, and worn out from playing with the colored balls, we decided to have some DSCF7641calming down time. Jessica, Kosei, and Wesley decided to do some puzzles, while Tokutaro, Kai and Jeremy made spaceships and robots with Lego blocks. Gabby who loves dice blocks, built a tall tower over and over again. Every time she made the tall tower and when the tower collapsed, Gabby was so happy that she kept jumping and dancing around the class! DSCF7642(which we think was probably what caused the tower to collapse…^^;)

Before our lunch, our teacher read us another story called “How to Catch a Star”. The story was about a little boy who wanted the star for himself, and tried all things he could think DSCF7646of to get it, but he failed. Then he saw a baby star in the ocean, so he went down to the beach and waited for the star to get washed up on the shore. After a long time he had finally found his very own star. We thought it would be nice to have our own star, so we decided to make one for ourselves since we can’t go down to the beach on a rainy day. We tried to draw stars, but only Kosei knew how. When we sat at the table, there was DSCF7650paper with a star shape and numbers next to its corners. We used popsicle sticks to connect the dots by following the numbers. It was more difficult than we thought it would be, but we were able to make stars by putting the popsicle sticks together on top of DSCF7637the paper as a guide. Gaby was the first one to complete the star by herself, and Jessica also did a great job! Kai, who kept asking for his own stars before snack time, was very satisfied to see his rainbow colored star

Our Tanabata tree has been finished and is standing by the window. Please take a look at our wishes when you have the time, and feel free to add in your wishes too!

Have a great afternoon,
