CIRCLE TIME

We began our circle time with a short discussion about April Fool’s Day and what it means to trick someone.

Ei: April Fools is a time when you can trick someone.

Mi: I think my mom wrote a joke on April Fool’s. A trick is sometimes someone do a joke. A joke means we say something different.

Th: Someone tells you something that is not true. It’s not right, which makes you confused. Like if your mommy tells you we’re going to the zoo, but then you don’t go.

Ei: One time I was confused about why my old home is empty. We had no TV, no toys, no bed. It’s not a joke. I think the movers took it because we moved into a new house.

Ty: My daddy said to my mommy, “meatballs!” But my mommy said daddy is telling a joke.

Ke: My mommy said it’s her birthday in January, but she is joke.

Will anyone try to trick us this year?

DOES IT TAKE TALENT?

We looked at three different cards with actions on them and determined whether they take talent to accomplish.

(1)           Ri: Blowing bubbles

Ta: No. Because you didn’t do it by yourself.

Ke: I’m good at blowing bubbles!

An: I’m not good at blowing bubbles.

(2)           Th: Rock climbing.

Sh: It can be a talent. Because you have to learn it, so it’s a talent.

Oj: I can do too!

Cl: One time I go with my mommy. I don’t learn, I just do it.

Hi: Talent is what you’re good at. If you do something every day, you will get better.

Sh: For example, Sonic in the video, he didn’t do run fast. He practiced every day and so now he’s very good at it!

Re: If you’re good at it or not good, it’s ok to be different!

(3)           Ve: Washing teeth

Ma: Brushing teeth!

Re: We don’t brush teeth, then our teeth will be stinky. In Japanese it’s called atarimae. So it’s not talent! You have to do. We don’t do it, then our teeth will be smaller and smaller.

Cl: I like to brush teeth! If you don’t brush, white will change color!

QUESTION OF THE DAY

Ma & Ke: Do you know what a job is?

Mi: When we get money from someone. Even in Kidzania all people who get a job, get money.

We shared some of the jobs we have had at Kidzania.

An: I make the hamburger!

Hi: I did the doctor and make the medicine.

Ty: My job was doing hamburger and airplane. I was driving.

Re: I did airplane, I do gasoline, and driving too! I do firefighter.

Ri: When I go to Kidzania, I made pizza!

We know that when we do a job at Kidzania, we get money, which we can use to buy things there, but not at other stores. We also know that grown ups have jobs and they get money for them too! But that money is real, unlike the money at Kidzania.

Who knows a grown up with a job?

Th: My grandpa is a driver of a boat.

Ty: My daddy has a job! My daddy’s job is golf.

HOMEWORK

Our homework today is to ask our parents or grandparents what their job is. We’d also like to know if they like that job or not.

Have a wonderful evening! See you tomorrow !
